Around 319.000 people in The Netherlands become victim of domestic abuse every year. Bystanders want to do something, but are often uncertain and afraid of the consequences. In this new campaign for the Dutch government we acknowledge these uncertainties with a new informative platform and emphasise that there is always something you can do.

With this new campaign we divert from the norm of showing victim or perpetrator. Instead we focus on something everyone can relate to. The bystander effect. Because when something happens that makes you suspect domestic abuse you become trapped in your own thoughts of doubt. Is this abuse? What if it was nothing at all? Should I do something? Can I even do something?

With this campaign we put the conflicting thoughts of the bystander center stage and show that there’s always something you can do.
